A name helps me have a reference point that you wanna talk to me. Or let's say I wanna speak about one of my kids, so I'll say their name. The name is relevant when there's others. Names are reference points that I can now speak with other people. So you need a name. So does God need a name before he creates the universe? He doesn't need a name. God is beyond all names. The names that God has revealed to us are the ways in which he wants to relate to us.
