Today people see the land of Israel as one of the most successful agricultural countries in the world as the mass export Jaffa oranges, dates, tree nuts among many more. Little do people know that 80-100 years ago, Israel wasn't always this fruitful. As Mark Twain describes it, the land of Israel was an inhospitable, horrible land. The Jews took that desert and made it bloom.
